Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups pretzels crushed, can be finely or coarsely crushed for texture
  • ½ cup butter melted, unsalted for best flavor
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar for crust sweetness
  • 8 oz. cream cheese softened to room temperature for smooth mixing
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for cream cheese layer
  • 8 oz. Cool Whip thawed in refrigerator for easy folding
  • 6 oz. strawberry gelatin Jell-O, for strawberry layer
  • 2 cups hot water to dissolve gelatin completely
  • 3 cups fresh or frozen sliced strawberries if frozen, use pre-sliced to avoid extra moisture

Method
 

  1. Place pretzels into a large ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin or pulse in a food processor until crushed. prep
  2. Combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons sugar in a medium bowl. mix
  3. Press pretzel mixture evenly into the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish. assemble
  4. Bake crust for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool about 20 minutes. bake
  5. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and ½ cup sugar until smooth and fully combined. mix
  6. Fold in thawed Cool Whip gently using a spatula until fully incorporated. mix
  7. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over cooled pretzel crust, covering all edges. assemble
  8. Dissolve strawberry gelatin in hot water and let cool for 10 minutes. prep
  9. Stir in sliced strawberries carefully, then pour mixture over cream cheese layer. assemble
  10. Cover dish with lid and refrigerate at least 4 hours until fully set. finish
  11. Slice and serve once set, enjoying the sweet, salty, and fruity layers. finish
