  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
For the Toffee Sauce:
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • ¾ cup Dark brown sugar - Packed
  • 4 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoon Golden syrup - Or substitute with corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Sea salt - Enhances flavor

Method
 

  1. Chop dates and pour boiling water over them; let sit 15 minutes, then mash.

  3. Pour into greased baking dish and bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes.

  4. Simmer cream, brown sugar, butter, and syrup until thickened; stir in vanilla and sea salt.
