  • 1 cup water For consistency
  • Chili Seasoning:
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder Mild blend of dried chilies
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin For earthy flavor
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne powder For a mild heat kick
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder For depth
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder For flavor balance
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar To balance acidity
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Freshly cracked for flavor

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent. prep
  2. Add the ground beef to the pot. Continue sautéing until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink. prep
  3. Drain the kidney and black beans, then add them to the pot along with the diced tomatoes (with juices), tomato paste, and 1 cup of water. Stir well to combine all ingredients. mix
  4. Add the chili seasoning (chili powder, cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper) to the pot. Stir everything until evenly mixed. mix
  5. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let the chili simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the more flavorful it becomes. cook
