Coconut Chai

Ingredients
  

Coconut Chai
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 can 14 oz Full-fat coconut milk - Shake well before opening
  • 3–4 bags Chai tea - Or loose-leaf chai 1–1½ Tbsp
  • 2 tablespoon Honey or maple syrup - To taste
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract - Optional but lovely
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 3–4 pods Cardamom - Lightly crushed
  • 2–3 whole Cloves
  • 1 inch Fresh ginger - Sliced
  • 1 whole Star anise Optional
For Serving
  • Ground cinnamon - Dusting
  • Coconut whipped cream -Optional
  • Extra honey -Drizzle optional
For Iced Version
  • Ice cubes
  • Cold coconut milk - Splash on top
  • Chilled chai concentrate - From recipe after cooling

Equipment

  • 1 Medium pot (For boiling water and simmering spices)
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer (To remove whole spices/tea)
  • 1 Measuring cups & spoons (Accuracy for liquids/sweetener)
  • 1 Spoon (Stirring)
  • 1 Mugs or tall glasses (For serving hot or iced)
  • 1 Pitcher (optional) (For chilling/iced version)

Method
 

  1. Bring water to a boil with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger to release deep aromatic flavor.
  2. Add chai tea bags, cover the pot, and let them steep until the tea is dark and fragrant.

  3. Pour in full-fat coconut milk and stir gently while heating until smooth and creamy.

  4. Stir in honey or maple syrup with vanilla extract to blend everything into a rich spiced chai.
