  • 3 Granny Smith apples - Peeled & sliced (tart, firm)
  • 3 Honeycrisp apples - Peeled & sliced (sweet, tender)
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar -
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar - Packed
  • 2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon -
  • ¼ teaspoon Fresh nutmeg - Grated
  • 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour - For thickening filling
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice - Fresh
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter - Diced, for dotting filling
  • 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour - For crust
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter - Cold, cubed (for crust)
  • 6 tablespoon Ice water - For crust
  • 1 teaspoon Salt - For crust
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar - For crust

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch pie pan (Glass or metal both work)
  • 1 Rolling Pin (Or a clean wine bottle in emergencies)
  • 1 Large mixing bowl (For apple filling)
  • 1 Sharp knife (For peeling and slicing apples)
  • 1 Measuring cups & spoons (For dry and wet ingredients)

Method
 

  1. Make the crust dough and chill
  2. Peel, slice, and mix apples with sugar/spices

  3. Roll out dough and fit into pie pan
  4. Add apple filling and dot with butter
  5. Cover with top crust or lattice, crimp edges

  7. Let pie cool completely before slicing
