Welcome to Meals With Sisters - Simple, Flavorful Recipes for Real Life

Hi! We're Safa & Sarah, two sisters based in Massachusetts who love sharing approachable, reliable recipes that make cooking fun (and stress-free). This page answers the questions we get most often.
If you don't see yours, email us at [email protected] we're happy to help!

🍳 Recipe & Cooking FAQs

How do you create and test your recipes?

Every recipe is created and tested in our own kitchen. Before a post goes live, we:

  • Try different ingredient brands and simple variations
  • Test on gas and electric cooktops (and standard home ovens)
  • Add notes for common beginner mistakes
  • Ask family/friends to cook it and share feedback

If a recipe isn't clear, repeatable, and delicious, it doesn't get published.

Are your recipes beginner-friendly?

Yes! Our goal is confidence in the kitchen. Each recipe includes:

  • Step-by-step instructions (with tips and timing cues)
  • Clear measurements (by volume; weights when helpful)
  • Simple substitutions and storage notes

What if my recipe didn't turn out right?

It happens to everyone no stress!
Comment on the recipe post or email [email protected] with:

  • Recipe name + what went wrong (e.g., too dry, didn't rise)
  • Any substitutions/brand changes you made
  • Oven type and pan size (for bakes)
  • A photo, if possible

The more detail, the faster we can troubleshoot.

Do you include nutrition facts?

Sometimes. When shown, nutrition is estimated by software and meant as a guide, not a medical claim. Results change with brands, toppings, and portion size.
For diet-specific advice, please consult a licensed healthcare professional.

Can I reduce sugar / swap ingredients?

Often yes, but remember: sugar, fats, and flours affect structure and moisture.

  • Start with a 10-15% sugar reduction and adjust to taste.
  • For gluten-free swaps, use a reputable 1:1 GF blend and expect slight texture changes.
  • Check each post's "Substitutions" notes for tested options.

What ovens are your bakes tested in?

A standard home oven (conventional + convection) in Massachusetts.
Use an oven thermometer for accuracy; pans and altitude can change timing.
